Nell, “Broken”

Nell was the very first Korean band I ever discovered. After a couple years, Nell was supposed to be the first Korean band I ever saw, at Greenplugged 2014, when I visited Korea for the first time. But fate had other plans. The ferry sank, Greenplugged was cancelled, and ever since I moved to Korea, I’ve never had an opportunity to see Nell live. They never played at the festivals I went to, or they played late Sunday night after I had to leave for home.

But this weekend, Valley Rock weekend, they will play Friday night at 9:00 pm. I will be there. I will finally come full circle with the band that started it all for me. Their discography is so vast that I’m sure I won’t know most of the songs they’ll play, and maybe I’ve hyped it too much in my mind, but honestly I can’t imagine the experience being anything less than satiating. And no, Kim Jong Wan doesn’t die in order for me to be satisfied.

English:

I’m here, tiny, in this vast world

As I clutched my shattered heart,

all I could do was brace myself

What do you want me to do?

How exactly am I supposed to go on?

What more can I do?

I’m so very small, but there’s a great wound inside me

As I grasped at hope, torn to shreds,

all I could do was brace myself

What do you want me to do?

How exactly am I supposed to go on?

What more can I do?

What do you want me to do?

Should I die? Would you be satisfied with that?

What do you want me to do?

How exactly am I supposed to go on?

What more can I do?

Me, I’m like this

Me, I’m like this
