Jo Sung Mo, “Good Day”

Not to be confused with IU’s song of the same name, or any of the numerous other similarly-titled songs, Jo SungMo’s “Good Day” might as well not exist for the amount of attention it gets. The only reason I discovered it was because Hyorin and Kim Ji Soo covered it in Dream High 2. I spent a loooong time trying to search for the song by the lyrics. At first I was a little disappointed because the cover is so different from the original. To be honest, it took quite a few listens before I overpowered my attraction to the cover, but eventually I learned to love Jo Sung Mo’s original version in and of itself.

Lyrics:

English:

I went to buy one doll that resembled you
I stood there for quite some time without saying anything
I hate the me I’m hiding in my heart, so
I look to the sky with squinted eyes

I walked and hugged the doll that resembled you
I stood at that window that became dark before I knew it
I hate my heart that loved like that, so
I try laughing at that despondent heart

The doll that resembled you was so precious to me
But even my love discarded me then came back
Why are there so many of you in the sky?
Even if I close my eyes, I see you
If you’re going to say goodbye — don’t

I went to buy one doll that resembled you
I stood there for quite some time without saying anything
I hate the me I’m hiding in my heart, so
I look to the sky with squinted eyes
