Yang Song E, “Paradise”

“Paradise” is a cute little guitar-backed song about love, perfect for (far too slowly) approaching summer. Aside from the acoustic sound that I always dig, there are also some pretty interesting lyrics that deviate from the stereotypical fluff. The love interest looks cute no matter what he’s eating, like ddeokbokki or spaghetti.  Palm trees are visible in her eyes and the sound of the ocean can be heard in his humming, indicative that “paradise” is not actually a place but the very state of being in love. I also thought the rapper’s part, about falling with a splash into a sky that is bluer than the ocean, was particularly poetic. I tried researching who the rapper was, but I couldn’t find anything in either English or Korean.

Like information on the artists themselves, there was not a single resource for English lyrics. Feel free to leave comments or send messages for corrections, because let’s not pretend this is a perfect translation. Massive thanks to Korean Notebook for explaining the meaning of 알콩달콩, with which I took some liberties. Korean lyrics from Naver.

Lyrics /

Oh, feel so good
Paradise, feel so good

둘만의 paradise, leggo (“let’s go”)

Oh, feel so good
Paradise, feel so good

그댄 나만의 paradise

English:

Ddeokbokki, spaghetti,
I like anything
The way you look when
eating something delicious is too cute

A silly romance movie
I like the cheesiness
like our conversations
When I’m with you,
my fingertips somehow…

…become electrified.
Why is my heart pounding again
like the day our eyes met?

When we walk together
you can see palm trees in my eyes
When you hum
I can hear the sound of waves
[Without anyone knowing, I want to
lounge alone (with you) there]
You, you, you’re my paradise
Oh, feel so good
Paradise, feel so good

Oppa, full of playfulness
I like it when you smile with your eyes
When old age bites at my hand
That expression is just like love

You’re my melody
I like it every time I hear it
My sweet, cream puff-like oppa
If you’re with me, my lips somehow…

…become electrified.
Why is my heart pounding again
like the day our eyes met?

When we walk together
you can see palm trees in my eyes
When you hum
I can hear the sound of waves
[Without anyone knowing, I want to
lounge alone (with you) there]
You, you, you’re my paradise
Oh, feel so good
Paradise, feel so good

Even if your detailed jokes become lame,
when you embrace me
it’s like I could just sleep

Please stay like this for a little while
Your fragrance is nice
Just a little longer like this

I, smelling of vanilla, take a bite of cloud
When I fall with a splash into a sky bluer than the ocean
No one will be able to find us
A paradise for just the two of us, let’s go

When we walk together
you can see palm trees in my eyes
When you hum
I can hear the sound of waves
[Without anyone knowing, I want to
lounge alone (with you) there]
You, you, you’re my paradise
Oh, feel so good
Paradise, feel so good

Our own paradise

Anything is better than what Naver/Daum/Google had, which was nothing! I guessed 알콤달콤 had to do with “sweet” because of 달콤하다, but I wasn’t sure ㅠ. Your explanation was easy to understand and really helped~

I’m glad you liked the song, though! I usually just cover whatever songs I like, but since so many blogs cover the popular songs, I try to talk about lesser-known songs ^^
