Speed, “Don’t Tease Me”
I have no idea why the title of this song gets translated as “Don’t Tease Me,” when the Korean title and the meaning of the song is pretty much the exact opposite. It’s about a guy who got dumped and so is going to give his ex a hard time.
But ignoring that inconsistency, the song is really great. I love the circus theme, although I don’t quite understand how it fits into the theme of the song. I know that their album is called “Speed Circus,” but the best connection I have between teasing an ex and the circus is using circus tricks and magic to give the ex a hard time. But the lyrics make no mention of that whatever, so I’m kind of lost. Let’s just say it’s not as solid as Sunny Hill’s “Midnight Circus.”
But despite its irrelevance, the circus theme is really quite interesting, and the song itself is catchy. It’s a shame that they decided to promote “왜 난 꼭 (Why I’m Not? — another odd translation)” with a boring (and rather offensive… I know I would have knocked out any guy harassing me like that) mv, although the song itself is at least half decent. Even still, I feel like “Don’t Tease Me” has more potential for a mv. I’m holding my breath that they’ll release a real mv later, but I don’t really expect one.
While they didn’t release a true mv, they did release this video of a dance practice:
