Choija (of Dynamic Duo) ~ Going Down

I think this might be my favorite song released so far this year (and thus am wondering why I didn’t make my first post about it). Even my dad likes it, and while he is open to enjoying any kind of music regardless of genre or language, he tends to be picky about the songs he actually approves of.

It is also a song for which I invested a great amount of effort in translating the lyrics myself as best I could, and it was totally worth it. Maybe it’s easy to tell without even speaking a word of Korean, but “Going Down” is about the disintegration of a relationship (hence the fraying string in the mv). But if you dig further, the lyrics paint a picture of a relationship that is  disintegrating because it has become habitual and boring, a concept which is reflected in the very simple, plodding music behind the rap. Choija draws the listener in to experience the same sense of monotony he is feeling, but does it in such a beautifully engaging way.

TL;DR I fucking love this song.
